Exodus 34:14 “For you shall worship no other god; for the Lord, Whose name is Jealous, is a jealous (impassioned) God,”

Jealousy has been the cause of many broken relationships, broken dreams, and spiritual abortions.

Jealousy will attempt to remove you from the position and call of God on your life. It will bring total confusion in your relationships and birth disappointment and betrayal in your spirit. It will attempt to chase you into hiding and isolation and brokenness.

Jealousy is a powerful destructive force based in selfishness, fear, ambition and a lack of love for others.

What does the Bible say about jealousy?

Pro 27:4  “Wrath is cruel and anger is an overwhelming flood, but who is able to stand before jealousy?

PROGRESSION OF JEALOUSY

○ LYING SPIRIT
James 3:14 “But if you have bitter jealousy (envy) and contention (rivalry, selfish ambition) in your hearts, do not pride yourselves on it and thus be in defiance of and false to the Truth.”

○ SLANDER
1 Timothy 6:4 “He is puffed up with pride and stupefied with conceit, [although he is] woefully ignorant. He has a morbid fondness for controversy and disputes and strife about words, which result in envy and jealousy, quarrels and dissension, abuse and insults and slander, and base suspicions.

○ ABUSE
Acts 13:44-45 “The next Sabbath almost the entire city gathered together to hear the Word of God. But when the Jews saw the crowds, filled with envy and jealousy they contradicted what was said by Paul and talked abusively [reviling and slandering him.”

○ GATHER A MOB TO AGREE WITH THE CASE AGAINST THE PERSON
Acts 17:5 “But the Jews were jealous, and taking some wicked men of the rabble, they formed a mob, set the city in an uproar, and attacked the house of Jason, seeking to bring them out to the crowd.” (Paul & Silas)

We always believe the majority is right. It is not the case in the Kingdom of God.

○ ANGER, HATE & MURDER
James 4:2 “You are jealous and covet and your desires go unfulfilled; [so] you become murderers. You burn with envy and anger and are not able to obtain [the gratification, the contentment, and the happiness that you seek], so you fight and war. You do not have, because you do not ask.”
Acts 5:17 “But the high priest rose up and all who were his supporters, that is, the party of the Sadducees, and being filled with jealousy and indignation and rage,

JOSEPH
Genesis 37:11 “Joseph’s brothers envied him and were jealous of him, but his father observed the saying and pondered over it.

Genesis 37:18 “And when they saw him far off, even before he came near to them, they conspired to kill him.

JEALOUSY DIRECTED TOWARD YOU

CONFUSION

Jas 3:16  “For wherever there is jealousy (envy) and contention (rivalry and selfish ambition), there will also be confusion (unrest, disharmony, rebellion) and all sorts of evil and vile practices.”

BROKEN RELATIONSHIPS
– Separation – e.g. Joseph
– Rejection
– Abandonment
– Betrayal

DISAPPOINTMENT
– In relationships
– In God
– In your calling and gifting

SHAME
– Hide from people because you have no answers
– Humiliated

HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH JEALOUSY IN YOUR LIFE?

1 Corinthians 3:3 “for you are still of the flesh. For while there is jealousy and strife among you, are you not of the flesh and behaving only in a human way?”

REMEMBER:

  • The enemy will first of all make you believe that the other person received something that should have been yours
  • And he will make you believe that God cannot give you the same.

James 4:2 “You are jealous and covet and your desires go unfulfilled; [so] you become murderers. You burn with envy and anger and are not able to obtain [the gratification, the contentment, and the happiness that you seek], so you fight and war. You do not have, because you do not ask.”

WHEN YOU ARE JEALOUS

  • Your desires go unfulfilled
  • You cannot obtain the gratification, contentment and happiness that you seek

KRIS VALLOTON
said that the gift of discernment is not only to discern the spirits, but it is to discern God’s favor and ANOINTING on a person so that we would know how to treat that person correctly.

So, WHAT TO WE DO?

If we discern God’s call and anointing on a person, we should:

  • Rejoice with that person for the open doors, the favor and anointing on that person
  • Support that person in any way you can
  • Pray for that person that God’s assignment and mandate will be fulfilled

Declare:

  • Your gratefulness and contentment with what God has in store for you
No eye has seen, no ear has heard and no mind can perceive what God has prepared for those who love Him?

The Lord says “YOU DO NOT HAVE BECAUSE YOU DO NOT ASK
